DORSET FINE ARTS http://www.dorsetfinearts.com/ Dorset Fine Arts is the wholesale marketing division of the West Baffin Eskimo Co-operative. It was established in Toronto in 1978 to develop and serve the market for Inuit fine art produced by the artist-members of the Co-operative. Sales of original prints, drawings and sculpture are made through Dorset Fine Arts' showroom in down town Toronto. The showroom is not open to the public, but to galleries in Canada, the United States and Europe that specialize in Inuit fine art. CAPE DORSET, NUNAVUT http://www.capedorset.ca It was at Cape Dorset that the remains of an ancient Inuit people, who flourished between 1000B.C. and 1100 A.D., were found. They were called the "Dorset Culture" after Cape Dorset. The Baffin Inuit of Cape Dorset are descendents of the later "Thule Culture" known by their legends as the "Tunit".
